Returning to exercise following the loss of a pregnancy

Sadly, not all pregnancies have the happy ending we hope for. It is important to remember that the body has still gone through hormonal and physical changes, even if the loss occurred in the first trimester.

The physical and emotional recovery process following miscarriage or loss will vary from person to person. As we know, exercise has many benefits for mental wellbeing and can be a great tool in dealing with grief and trauma. It is most important however, that we approach our return to activity with patience and kindness whilst also considering the adaptations we may have to make to our strength and cardiovascular training.

A Strong Mama consultation can guide you with empathy and understanding to return to your exercise routine and link you with local and national support services that can help you and your family process your loss.
