Post Partum
Congratulations Strong Mama! You achieved something incredible. You have started on a whole new adventure and have a new (very cute) reason to stay healthy and happy.
Exercise after childbirth has many benefits including improved mood and increased strength and energy to name just a few. If you are a keen exerciser and are desperate to get back to your routine…that’s great however it is important that you do it in a gradual and safe way.
All pregnancies and births are different. When and how you to return to activity will depend on your pregnancy journey, type of delivery, physical changes that have happened during pregnancy and birth, your energy levels and life priorities. In this consultation you will learn recommendations for safe return to exercise that are tailored to your specific circumstances.
You will also discover the key steps and principles to returning to both strength and cardiovascular training and find out what exercises should be avoided whilst regaining effective core strength and control.
Abdominal separation, pelvic floor dysfunction or prolapse are more common post partum than you might expect, so knowing how to monitor for signs and symptoms of these is key whilst you rebuild your core and return to the exercise you enjoy safely and comfortably.

Returning to exercise after miscarriage
Sadly, not all pregnancies have the happy ending we hope for. It is important to remember that the body has still gone through many hormonal and physical changes, even if loss has occurred in the first trimester. The physical and emotional recovery process following miscarriage or loss will vary from person to person. It is most important that we approach our return to activity with patience and kindness whilst also considering the adaptations we may have to make to our strength and cardiovascular training.
The Strong Mama post partum consultation can support you with empathy and understanding to return to your exercise routine and signpost you to local and national services that can help you and your family process your loss.
